When he asks Big Joe "Think I can get this in the hold of a B-17?"

Has the writer never seen a B-17?

Apparently the Captain hasn't either.

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

reply

Yeah, I think that line is supposed to point up the Captain's ignorance.

Probably...either that or his callousness--thinking of loot while his men died.

He is an Infantry...actually Artillery spotter captain...he probably has never been near a 1940s Army Air corps B-17.its probably just the biggest plane he knew of. Or knew where one was.

reply

I think that's supposed to show what a dolt he is. He also tells Big Joe not to loot, which is irony since he is looting.

Clever writing.

"Loot what? There's nothin' here to loot!"

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

reply

I think he meant from the locals. He wasn't really concerned about the immorality of looting just, like fooling around with the local wives, it made for trouble.
