A heist movie!

That's all it is really. A disparate group of people, with the neccesary skills and knowledge, are brought together by one individual in order to secure an object, beit money, art, etc. Just like:
Ocean's 11
The Heist
The Anderson Tapes

Inception

Yes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a WWII war flick (and semi-comedy as well). The movie takes place in France after the Normandy invasion where all the main characters are soldiers and it has numerous battle sequences, including the entire final hour. So it's a war movie first and a heist movie second.

Agreed, war movie first. As Big Joe said "we are at the sharp end of a bottle" all the time and now Kelly, who despite his demotion from officer status, is willing to lead them to fight for something for themselves. I don't think all the soldiers agreed to go just because it was a heist, but rather they wanted to stick together.

Well yeah it's based off Nazi Gold. How many movies have been made that are heist movies? You could say that about many movies of all genre's. The movie Patriot Games is basically just a revenge movie. The list could go on and on. This one at least was funny. Big Joe, Crap Game, Oddball & Kelly are great characters. Hurry up Barbara!
