anyone else think the fleeing from the police car chase scene...


was incredibly similar to the one in To Catch A Thief. In the Cat O' Nine Tails car chase scene there are insert shots of the female driver flooring the gas pedal and the male passenger bracing his feet against the floor and gripping the dashboard that are identical to Hitchcock's film and edited into the chase footage in almost exactly the same way. Argento was definitely influenced by Hitch, so I wonder if Argento had that scene from To Catch A Thief in mind while shooting this one.

u've beaten me to it , i actualy came here to say that..the car chase and last chase on the roof also ..to references to hitch's catch a thief..
also there's a big reference to chandler's the big sleep

You got it. There is also a strong similarity between the old woman who is crossing the street in To Catch A Thief and the ederly couple in this movie who try to get through the street and then quit. I think it is a sort of Argento's homage to Hitchcock.

You have to remember - the Europeans LOVED and WORSHIPPED Hitchcock... all film informs other film - I've been watching a lot of giallos and can see the strong impression they made on John Carpenter and Wes Craven...
