For most of the movie I thought Karl Malden was supposed to be psychic..

.. the way he just suddenly started following the trail of the killer in the beginning, mingled with the POV shots - I thought they were setting up that he was seeing through the killers eyes.

X-Files did an episode like that - wonder if it came from the same confusion that I had.

I thought he must be psychic when he switched on the cooker and started doing sausages in the frying pan,then putting his hands on them to see how they were doing. For a blind man who WASN'T psychic, that was quite a dangerous thing to do.
