no, if you watch the criterion collection of red circle they have rare interviews and in one clip he says that he never watches any of his movies until many years later. He also said that he has not see un flic at all.
don't get me wrong, i still think he is a great director but i do not think it is possible for a director to make movies and not see a final cut.
I think he means he never sees them after completing the final cut. How could he edit it if he didn't see it?
