Le Cercle Rouge coming to Blu Ray in September (UK)
Coming to the UK as part of The Studio Canal Collection. A cause for celebration IMO. Hopefully Le Samourai won't be far behind. Roll on September.

There is some indecision on the films proper aspect ratio. The upcoming Studio Canal disc is listed at 1.66. (IMDB also states the film was shot in 1.66) The original Criterion release used the 1.85 aspect. I prefer the 1.66, but there is really little difference between the two on a widescreen TV that is projecting the image in its correct ratio. (1.66 has small pillar bars at the sides, 1.85 has small letterboxing bars at the top and bottom)

As it's a French movie, the AR was most likely 1.66:1.
I received the Studio Canal disc today, and it looks marvelous; it has the cooler colour timing of the European DVDs (including the BFI release) rather than the warmer colour timing of the Criterion DVD. There are also some fantastic extra features on the disc. The Blu ray is a very worthwhile purchase.
