"Papa" John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas right? Yes, I am surprised that his name is not mentioned as the singer/songwriter for many tracks in the film, like "The Last of the Natural Acts" and, another one I think is called "Ride, Abraham, Ride".

reply

yeah, i'm a huge fan of his and the mamas and the papas.

Me too! One of my all-time favorite groups. Such great songs...such a great combination of voices!

reply

wow, i'm glad to see someone who really appreciates them. most people are like "yeah, they had a couple good songs". i think they are really under estimated. they made four really great albums. i think john should get more credit for his songwriting than he does, too.

I just loved "The Last of the Unnatural Acts." BTW, I think it is UNnatural acts, not Natural acts.

You're right! It is "Unnatural Acts". Thanks for that correction.

he is listed on the opening credits

His song "Promise Not To Tell" over Sally Kellerman walking out of the boy's life just makes that scene the devastating one it is. I've been crazy about that cut forever. It is about betrayal.
