IMDb lists wrong Bill Baldwin
IMDb persists in listing Bill Baldwin (II), an actor who was born in 1913 and thus would have been 57 in 1970, as the one who played Bernard, the 20-something legislative assistant to the Congressman.
Not only is this obviously wrong but it happens I was in college in Houston when Altman was filming. He made quite a splash when he came to town and held open-call auditions at the Warwick Hotel. He cast a number of locals, the most notable in hindsight being Shelley Duvall, who in real life had worked at the Astrodome and did have a "crazy artist" boyfriend named Bernard at the time, just as she tells Brewster in the movie. Other Houston cast members included Dean Goss, Gary Chason, and my college classmate Bill (William) Baldwin. Needless to say, Bill's good fortune made him the object of much attention on campus and even those who, like me, didn't know him all that well turned out to cheer him at the movie's premiere showing at the Astrodome in December 1970.
I have submitted a correction for the Brewster McCloud page, and for the Bill Baldwin (II) page. (I haven't kept in touch with Bill in the 35+ intervening years, but I doubt he made any other movies; it seems not to be a matter of substituting a different listed actor but, instead, distinguishing yet another Bill Baldwin.)
Meanwhile, IMDb ignores my submissions (I even sent them Bill's current contact details from our alumni directory to enable independent verification). I am really curious to know why my corrections are not accepted and what it would take to make them fix this error.
