Maybe i`m the only one who will feel this way , but i didn`t feel sorry for her at all when she got hurt from the bomb blast . She blatantly knew Vern was married regardless if his marriage was a happy one or not , even though his wife was aware of his philanderings. It made her no better than him , when she stopped taking the pill what did she think was going to happen , all because she was putting on weight , she could`ve made him wear a condom. It`s a shame you don`t find out what end up happening to her and the baby in the end, women like her who have affairs with married or attached men deserve no sympathy what so ever.

Yes,ok married pilots should not have relations with air stewardess.
But as in real life we don't know everything about the situation,perhaps his wife dumped someone else to be with him?
Did he misuse his position to seduce GWEN?,he was her boss after all?
These things are not always black and white,many happy marriages of basically moral people have come from wrong relationships.
People first relationships don't always last and what is the point of pretending they do?

Gwen was human (brilliantly played Jacqueline Bissett) and didn't take a
"holier than thou" attitude. Why Ms. Bissett didn't at least get nominated
for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, I'll never understand.

Also, the way Dean Martin played Vern, you got the idea that did really care
for his wife (Barbara Hale), perhaps differently than when they were first
married. The "marital sexual" relationship with Sara may have dimmed, but
one could tell (at least I read this into it) that he did respect her and care
for her.
