Maureen Stapleton steals the film!!!

I just watched this film on blu-ray and I'm amazed at Ms. Stapleton's incredible performance. You don't see such a convincing actress like that in any film from any era. They say Bette Davis was a great actress, well, she was an interesting movie star, but she was miles away from the realness of Maureen Stapleton.

She was an amazing actress. I knew her many moons ago in NY and she was a lovely woman, too. She really does steal the film, indeed. She was always just so damn good.

Very much agree! It is performers like Maureen Stapleton who are able to make you forget that you are watching a movie.

Sorry to disagree but I thought her acting was over the top. All I kept thinking about was "Family" and her sister in "All In The Family" LOL

Jean Stapleton and Maureen Stapleton were unrelated. They merely had the same surname.
