Oh *beep* he was in this movie towards the end LOL

George Kennedy was in almost all of this movie, from near the beginning right through to the end. He's the guy they called in to move the stuck plane, and who also explained what would happen if the bomb were set off. He had one of the biggest parts in the film, in it throughout, impossible to miss.

Kennedy was known for treating everyone he worked with decently and fairly. I saw him off-camera during the filming of a 1986 made-for-TV movie about the centennial of the Statue of Liberty. He played one of the workers who helped build the statue. He traveled to Baltimore to film most of his scenes. A great guy. I remember him working hard on one scene in which his character gets killed, and when I saw the finished film that scene appeared to have been deleted.

Thank you for that story. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. He's 88 now, one of the few stars of Airport still with us, and I hope he's doing well.

What were you watching? Certainly not this film. Before the plane was even boarded the movie started with the problems they were having with all the snow on the runways. George Kennsdy's character arrived at the airport by police escort at the start of the film to help dig a plane out!

He was also one of the main character's involved in a scene when they try to figure out what will happen if the bomb goes off midair. He was the one who explained everything to the others because of his military experience and the fact that he was on a plane that had a similar incident with a hole in the plane that's in flight

"MOJO2014"

Yes, the latter was a key scene that greatly added to the suspense of the film. It was added by George Seaton in his adroit screenplay adaptation, and was ridiculously criticized by Variety's reviewer at the time as being superfluous and for underestimating the awareness of modern audiences.

I completely agree, OP; this movie has lots of great characters, but "Joe Patroni" is my favorite!!
