Walter Matthau/doctor?

OK, please let me know if I am going crazy but I just watched Airport and I would swear that the doctor who helps the Jackie Bisset's character who is really hurt is Walter Matthau. But his name is nowhere on anything. I looked under his name and all his movies and of course here but nada. I mean it looks like him and sounds like his voice but nope. Could someone help me out here? Thanks.
Going crazy!!!!!!

The doctor who attends to Ms. Bisset is played by Paul Picerni.

Yes, I just saw that but don't you agree he looks and sounds just like a young Walter Matthau? And btw, you have my FAVORITE quote from the Godfather!!!! Cracking me up, love it!!!! (and connolis are worth the taking!)

Paul Picerni was actually a couple of years younger than Walter Matthau but stared in films a couple of years before him. If you see them in films from the mid-50s, when they were both in their early-to-mid 30s, there really is no resemblance, and honestly I see none at any time in their lives.

I don't agree about the Matthau resemblance, but you're certainly entitled to see it that way - my wife does it alla time! Heh.

I do agree with you about cannolis, though. Absolutely and totally worth it !!

(Related note - the best cannolis I ever ate were at a now-closed little restaurant in Westwood Village, CA [a small section of LA - where UCLA is located, if you're not familiar with the territory] called Stratton's - they had two restaurants, one called Stratton's and one called Stratton's Grill, where a young lady named http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002127/?ref_=nv_sr_1 worked [hit the link to find out who!] - and to this day, she still owes me a bottle of Absolut vodka in return for a favor I did her!)

Well Thank you so much! I do appreciate that. And it's not even so much his looks as his voice!!! OMG! Sounds just like him!

As for cannolis, I wish that place was still open in Westwood! My mom used to make them the best our of anyone, including store bought! And your post sound more intriguing then anything I've read so far on IMDb!!!!

Have a great day!

Sorry, guys, but:

(1) Paul Picerni does not sound like Walter Matthau. For one thing their accents are completely unalike. They both do have deep voices but so do thousands of actors. You could never mistake one for the other.

(2) I don't know the place in L.A., but the best cannoli, like the best pizza, are found in New York City -- and most of all in Manhattan's Little Italy.

As long as we're bringing regional prejudices in here!

(Sorry -- no emoticon for cannoli!)

And what has any of this to do with Airport now?  

reply

Well, it WAS Walter Mattheau who played the drink in Earthquake.... Fun cameo there.
