love this movie
am watching this right now, and how timely since the delta flight just had a very scary landing at laguardia due to snow. almost like tcm had esp :) i saw this on the big screen when it first came out in 1970; i was 13 and out of town for a junior tennis tournament. that night a bunch of us went to see this movie, and i guess i remember it so well because i remember the circumstances, a cherished memory from a time long ago. i absolutely loved it. i remember thinking (at that young age) the plot lines with dean martin/jaqueline bisset, and with burt lancaster/jean seburg, were so "adult"! it was a great because of the disaster/suspense element mixed with the wonderful character development; i could really relate to all of them in spite of their faults. and then there was the wonderful helen hayes for comic relief! i guess it may be a bit corny and dated by today's standards, but i still love it and it's a well-made movie. the precursor to all the rest of those 70's disaster movies, but the best of them all.
