FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Former "Partridge Family" heartthrob David Cassidy has been charged with driving under the influence in Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol says his car was stopped around 6 p.m. Wednesday for weaving and nearly causing an accident.

Cassidy told a trooper that he had a glass of wine at lunch and a hydrocodone pill at 3:30 p.m. Troopers reported finding a half-empty bottle of bourbon in the back seat.

The FHP says Cassidy failed a field sobriety test and two breath tests. Cassidy posted $350 bail and was released from jail early Thursday.

His spokeswoman, Jo-Ann Geffen, told TMZ he admits taking a pain pill and being tired from attending a funeral, but insists he was not drunk. She did not immediately return an e-mail from The Associated Press.

My bro bumped into David Cassidy in New York City a couple years ago. He said Cassidy was very drunk and trying to draw attention to himself. It sounded sad.

Is David Cassidy still abusing alcohol and pills? He just acted like a real diva at The Monkees Convention in East Rutherford, NJ. He refused to take photos with fans even though it was in the contract he had signed. He also announced he did not want fans to speak with him, shake his hand or hug him. There is no excuse for that type of behavior. If he does not enjoy appearances no one is forcing him to make them. I have heard that Cassidy is a jerk. Before he got busted for DWI three years ago he showed up wasted for one of his concerts.

Sounds like he went from beloved teen idol to grouchy old man. But who knows what was going on mentally. It is sad and tragic how his life spiraled downward in his golden years.

'70s heartthrob David Cassidy arrested on suspicion of DUI near LAX

Former pop singing star David Cassidy was arrested near LAX on Friday night on suspicion of drunk driving, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

Cassidy, now 63 and a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was driving a rental car shortly after 9 p.m. when he left the southbound 405 Freeway at La Tijera Boulevard and made an illegal right turn against a red light, the CHP said.

A CHP patrol unit in the area followed the car and stopped it on Airport Boulevard near LAX. The officer reported noticing the smell of alcohol in the car and Cassidy subsequently was arrested and spent the night in jail.

He was released Saturday morning on $15,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 5, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Inmate Information Center.

Cassidy is a former star of "The Partridge Family" television show and was a teenage heartthrob during the 1970s.

I think I remember his Dad, Jack Cassidy having a similar problem too.

Jack Cassidy never DUI. Jack's blood alcohol level was not that high when he died. It was .12. David Cassidy actions have surpassed anything that Jack has ever done.

Cassidy's drivers license should be revoked. Then when he gets his license back he should have to drive around in the Partridge Family bus with "careful alcoholic has-been driving" written in large print on the back.

Cassidy was cited in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on charges of leaving the scene of a car accident, expired tags, improper lane change and driving on a suspended license on September 9, 2015. His license had been suspended for six months in the May 2015 sentencing of a New York case.
