flipside/satan dj-a-hole

A memorable episode for me because I worked in Radio for 15 years and had the displeasure of working with several J.J.s In comparison, J.J. is likeable.
The suitcase containing a vest and seat cushion, and the laugh box were a hoot.

It seemed like Johnson did some homework for the role, but not enough.
Everyone knows a DJ doesn't simply put a tone arm and needle onto a record to play it. You would cue the record before playing.
Also, in those days a Jock would have to display his Radio License. You actually had to have one. OK, I'm nit picking with that one. And a guy who was such a big hit, previously working in The Big Apple, wouldn't be using that stupid plastic laugh box.
There were sound fx records back then.

Still, I enjoyed this episode because it was so cheesy.

HEY! C'MON! You worked in Radio for 15 years, I worked in TV for almost 1/2 a century! Gimme a break! Okay, the fact you thought it was "MEMORABLE" is worth a few points. But the main thing is we're both alive and kicking! And as an old friend of mine used to say, "Who's better than us?!" gs

"CHEESY"?! You call my masterpiece -- 'CHEESY'?! Yes, I believe Arty did do some research. However, this was really his first "dramatic role", and he was quite nervous about it. I remember staying on the set the whole shoot, and he kept pulling me over to the side to ask how he was doing. It's my favorite "NIGHT GALLERY". That and 'THE TUNE IN DAN'S CAFE', for which I also wrote the song, 'IF YOU LEAVE ME TONIGHT I'LL CRY'. Ahhh, those were the daze. 'CHEEEESY?!!!!' gs

GS, I love Flip Side Of Satan. Seeing Artie go from a likeable person at the beginning of the tale to slowly showing his real colors was excellent. Both the way you wrote it and Artie's acting made the segment!

do you know why Joan Van Arc's character in Ring with the Red Velvet Ropes wanted Jim Figg to lose the boxing match against Chuck Connors? Did she not want to "be" with Figg, and stay stuck with Connors or eternity? It seems that she liked Figg, who did win the bout.

Thanks - you've written some of my favorites. I remember Arte Johnson from "Laugh-In" and thought he was great as the DJ. And I've remembered the Dan's Cafe song especially the "'til death" scratch for decades!
