Did you get "The Dark Boy" ending?

I was waiting for another scene. What the heck was that?? She and the dad stand on the porch at night, looking out at the yard ... and I see nothing. Suddenly they smile, and the yard is shown again - still empty as far as I could see. Then the credits roll!

What did that mean?? Did I miss something??

In case you missed the last shot-it showed the boy's grave.
He had been scared to approach his dad after he died. But after they all walked home he was at peace. Beautiful episode
of the show.

Ahh; I didn't get that. Thanks much!

There's also the bird call they used to "speak" to each other. I suppose the boy can move on now, but I seem to recall hearing their special call.

This is one of my all-time favorite episodes, and it's especially melancholy because of the brilliant but tragic actress who stars.

Elizabeth Hartman, best remembered for her Oscar-nominated performance in "A Patch of Blue". Leapt to her death in 1987.

I recall hearing about her death back then and being so shocked and saddened. She was such a lovely lady and a remarkable actress, even when doing voice work alone. I love her voice; it's so gentle and soothing.

I think of her in "A Patch of Blue" (brilliant and touching!), "The Group" (mourning her fate as her husband's experiment), "You're a Big Boy Now" (a world apart from other roles!), and so many other performances, especially "The Dark Boy".

I wonder if "The Dark Boy" is Jack Laird's son or nephew?

I'll let you know when I come-up with a new signature, .
