Sandra Dee?

Terrible actress. What is amazing is that she had any career in the movie biz whatsoever.

Had to laugh at her hammy appearance on Night Gallery. Good grief. Yes, very pretty face, no T and A. Total fake ham.

Couldn't stop thinking of this song from Grease:

Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee,
Lousy with virginity,
Won't go to bed till I'm legally wed,
I can't ...I'm Sandra Dee!

What a cornball. The luckiest no-talent schlub in all Hollywood.

I can't believe Rod Serling cast her in anything.

Disagree entirely. Tell David is one of my favorites out of Night Gallery. She gave a very touching and vulnerable performance.

I agree. Did you see her by any chance in the 1969 film The Dunwich Horror? I thought she was good there, and she held her own against Sam Jaffe, Ed Begley and Dean Stockwell.

While the script was only loosely based on the Lovecraft story with the same title, it was still a decent movie.

No never heard of it before. Looked it up on IMDB and it does look interesting.

Different topic, but did you ever see The People. It was one of those ABC Movie of the Week telecasts. It had Kim Darby and William Shatner in it. It was a very Night Gallery/Twilight Zoney type of story.

It sounds vaguely familiar. If I did see it, it was a long time ago.

Have you ever read any works by HP Lovecraft? He died in 1937, so whatever he wrote is now in the public domain. If you like NG you might like Lovecraft. In spite of his ponderous and rather stilted style of writing, the stories are interesting. At least two EG episodes were based on Lovecraft's ideas. One was 'Cool Air' and the other one that I can think of was "Professor Peabody's Last Lecture".

reply

Yes-- Pickman's Model was HP Lovecraft too.

I have read Lovecraft. I remember I was introduced to his writings by a substitute teacher in English class in high school. Usually, students torture the substitutes. But in this case, he was a pretty cool guy, who said, "Sit down while I read you one of my favorite stories." I forget which one it was, but we were sort of mesmerized and listened intently through the whole story.

I also remember a book called "Strangely Enough" that was full of eerie stories purported to be true. It was one of those books sold through the Scholastic Book Services catalogs when I was in Junior High School in the 1970's.

I, too, am a Lovecraft fan despite his opinions of people of my skin color.

People were uninformed idiots back then. I shudder when I read F. Scott Fitzgerald too.

I remember on "Entertainment Tonight", they did a story about Dee. They intervewed John Saxon and he said that she was so thin, he was almost able to put his hands completely around her waist.

The SyFy channel has a Twilight Zone Marathon starting Sun at 11.30pm (est) until 4am Tues. IMDB posters sit in a "virtual living room" together, watching the marathon in "real time" and post during the marathon. It's actually quite fun.

@JOhn

It's kind of silly to claim that someone can't act based on one episode---especially since Dee was, in fact, a huge star in the late 50s and early '60s. One of the 3 NG episodes she did-----the one where she plays a woman who keeps getting visions of a friend of hers being in trouble somewhere is one of my favorites (it scared the heck out of me as a kid, too.) And all 3 of the NG episodes she appeared in were pretty good, too.
