Do AMC fans ever watch soaps on CBS or NBC?

Do fans of "All My Children" or other ABC soaps ever watch soaps on other networks? I really think most soap fans stick to one network for soaps, both daytime and nighttime. And those soap preferences tend to run in families. I came from a family of ABC soap watchers. I knew a lot of CBS soap fans growing up but never watched any of those. When I was in college "Days of Our Lives" was very popular. I never got into it but loved Alison Sweeney as Sami.

I watched Days for quite a while after being in the lounge at work when others were watching it, but gave it up years ago. I watch it once in a while but too much has happened. If I could get caught up on the past 5 years or so, I might think about sticking with it. I just don't have the desire to try and piece it back together by watching it daily.

I was pretty much an ABC fan and watched Ryan's Hope, AMC, OLTL and GH. They were great show, too bad they ended. I always thought that if AMC and OLTL were combined it may have survived.

You didn't watch Loving or Edge of Night? Those were ABC soaps too back in the day.

I may have watched Loving for a bit but not Edge of Night. I didn't think Edge was ABC.

Edge originally started on CBS in 1956 and ran until 1975 and then ABC picked it up that year and it ran until 1984.

I was a huge fan of OLTL and AMC in the mid 1980s. I WOULD NEVER watch any CBS or NBC soaps because (at the time) they seemed slow and dreary . The ABC soaps were so LIVELY and fast moving. Anyone else agree with me ????? However I hated General Hospital because Tony Geary (and his hair) made me sick to my stomach and the story lines were almost "comic book" worthy.

I agree with you. That's one of the reasons ABC was number 1 in the 80's. I mean I was born in the late 80's but I have tons of episodes of AMC from the 80's and it was fast and kept your attention. Plus it had almost all the characters in storylines. They had a purpose to be there. OLTL was never my favorite but I would have loved to see more with characters like Ed and Carla from that time. I think 1970's OLTL until about 1982 was good but not later.

General Hospital to me was overrated. It may have had the ratings but I agree about Tony Geary I never could understand what was so hot about him or his character. Never could figure out how women could be crazy for a rapist. The Quartermaine family were the only people that ever made GH watchable to me along with Tiffany and Sean.

NBC soaps in the early 80's were extremely dark like Days of our Lives. It was borderline creepy to me in the early 1980's. Another World which was the biggest soap of the 70's fell hard but still had some watchable storylines but it was a TOTALLY different atmosphere with characters from NBC and ABC at the time.
