So the Gibson remake was canned?

I haven't heard any updates for a few years. If anyone was given the job of remaking The Wild Bunch, he would have been the man to do it.

His cast made me worry though. I love Peter DInklage in many films, but he doesn't belong in The Wild Bunch. Plus, casting Jamie Foxx as Pike would just be making the same mistake they made when they cast Denzel Washington as Chris in the forgettable Magnificent Seven remake.

It would have been better than a Will Smith version, anyway.

Probably canned.

I've found that unless one of these movies gets announced right before it starts to shoot its llikely doomed to go to Development Hell and die.

Interestingly, that Denzel Magnificent Seven got announced right about the time it started casting.

And in a classic "speed move," Gus Van Sant announced that he was going to remake Hitchocck's Psycho(oh the infamy!) in April, had it cast and shooting by July and in theaters by December -- all in 1998.

VAn Sant got his Psycho remake(a lifelong dream) because he hit big with Good Will Hunting and the studios wanted him bad. I figure once he got a greenlight on Psycho...he RAN to get it made quickly.

PS. I don't know about Jamie Foxx for PIke, but I felt Denzel was fine for the Seven. He had -- and has -- MAJOR stardom and so Yul Bryner's boots were well filled.
