What Makes This a Good Movie? - Spoilers

The heroes are practically invincible. They seem to deflect bullets and predict everything. The numerous Germans never have a chance.

The plot twists are improbable. They are also underplayed: it's revealed very early that the general isn't real.

The story is not faithful to history. There are so many mistakes. It is like a fantasy with a WW2 theme.

I did not like the movie. It was a typical 60's/70's live action cartoon in the same category as Kelly's hero's and the dirty dozen. This movie can be enjoyed if you view it more of a war themed fantasy rather than a serious film.

I agree. I lost count of all the "Show me your papers!" lines, and I kept waiting for the one cliche that turned up in most WWII movies. Finally, at about 1:18, somebody said it: "Ve haff vays of makink you talk." Whereupon Lt. Brünnhilde reaches for her hypodermic kit.

This movie, at 2:35, was at least one hour too long.

It's called plot and character development, a movie that thrives on story opposed to shoot outs, kids these days have no patience. Everybody loves Inglourious Basterds but what they may fail to realize is this movie was very heavy inspiration.

No, Inglourious Basterds is worse.

How many plot lines from this were re-used in the Medal of Honor games that were popular on the playstation?

reply

Why is this rated higher than Cross of Iron?
