What kind of booby traps were those devices?

We see Clint and Richard setting up those timer devices all over the place- extending a tripwire?

But how did they stick to cold, damp stone castle walls?

Magnets!

Even warm, wooden studio sets?

I've seen this movie several times, and I'm fairly certain they attach them with some kind of burlap or other type of fastener that wraps around objects. Not sure if its meant to be elastic or what, but I think if you review the scene where they attack them to the fireplace in the Officer's dining hall that they're wrapped around the small columns on either side.

I may be recalling incorrectly, but thats what I see in my mind when I recollect.

Hmm, I'm sure that in the ''interrogation room scene'' they simply plonk them against the ''wall''?

But I'll look again. Merry Xmas!

Having watched it yesterday I can say at least the ones attached to the bridge during the climax chase are attached with some sort of strap as you see Clint Eastwood's character passing it round the back of the wooden crossbeam support.
