I think it's incedible how well this movie still holds up. A lot of war movies, especially from the 60's, were incredibly boring. This is entertaining all the way through. Great story, great setting, great characters, great music, perfect cast.. I still haven't seen any ww2 movie close to this.

May I suggest you go view "Downfall" - outstanding. It is German made but is subtitled. Do not in any way allow that to put you off - this movie is well worth a night-in, only to have the chance to watch it. You won't regret it.
The German actor who played Hitler deserved an Oscar, a travesty he wasn't nominated.
For me it would be Schindler's List.
