Hollywood studio processed shots

While watching this I noticed a couple of scenes like when Clint and Burton are riding in the motorcycle/sidecar where you can tell they were in a studio with a screen in the backdrop. I forget what they call those shots. But it got me thinking, I believe that's the only time I've ever seen anything like that in any Clint Eastwood movie. He always goes for realism. Scenes like that are obviously fake. Maybe not so much in 1968, but today it's hard to miss it.

Even The Eiger Sanction doesn't have studio shots in it.

That's "rear screen projection." Anyway, we need to remember that this is a Clint Eastwood movie only in the sense that he's one of the stars and the junior one at that. He wouldn't have had creative control.

He used them in Firefox. And Tarentino used them in Pulp Fiction. Return Of the Jedi and Aliens....I could keep going.
