New remastered Blu-ray?

Just wondering if anyone has heard about a new release in the pipeline as the current version is very disappointing.

This Classic film needs a proper re-mastering. I hoping for a brand new 4K scan from the Original Camera Negative.

Also they need to reinsert the Intermission and Entr'acte just like the Laserdisc.

Yes, the full roadshow version would be great to have. (I particularly like the score for this one.)

Classic war films don't seem to have gotten much love to date in their transfers to Blu-ray. This, The Great Escape, The Longest Day, Von Ryan's Express ... they've all been given less-than-stellar treatment in mastering as a Blu. Do the studios think viewers of a war film won't be so bothered? ;frown: Patton got a remaster, but I suspect more because it's a George C. Scott film and Oscar-awarded, rather than as a war film. Only Guns of Navarone (as far as I'm aware) offers much hope that this might change.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Maybe they are waiting for a 50th anniversary release in 2018.

I honestly thought the movie looked pretty damn good already.

Honestly whenever a movie back in the 60s does fade transitions, or has effects over it, it's going to look bad regardless it's not a problem with remastering but rather the film source itself. Hell, look at The Ten Commandments on blu-ray, some shots look real excellent and others look real bad.
