Summer 1969........I will never never forget......

We were at a friend's house for a barbque. It was a bright sunny day- The parents were all in the backyard and all the kids went inside to watch TV. The commercial for this movie came on................ scared the hell out of me !!!!!!!!! And I used to watch all kinds of weird movies on TV at the time. This commercial gave me nightmares..
Something about the commercial- the music and the voice over........the chanting at the end "whatever happened to Aunt Alice.....whatever happened to Aunt Alice...." and it fades out.
I did not get to see the movie until it played on the ABC Movie of the Week around ..1976? I think. I liked it then (LOVE IT NOW) but that cello music really got to me...like it's rumbling in your stomach......
What a shame that the archaic crusty Academy NEVER hardly EVER gave Oscars to movies that were psychotic, horror, thrillers , suspense or just weird. I guess they did "bow" to Ruth Gordon for Rosemary's Baby -- but Geraldine Page - here in this movie was incredible. Just perfect.
