This has been driving me batty, trying to figure out who this actor is.

It's in the scene where John Henry's men are lined up for chow, and he's the guy that rags McCartney (Dub Taylor) about the meal.

He says "When are we gonna get some MEEEEAAAAT???"

Then when McCartney shakes his fist with a nasty reply, this guy calls him a "belly cheater".

He reminds me of John Smith (Laramie), but Smith isn't listed in the cast.

Anyone know this actor?

That was Jerry Gatlin. He was also the actor who played "Sam Turner" in "The Train Robbers".

Awesome....many thanks. Checking his credits he was in a lot of John Wayne projects.

Yes sir! He was one of The Duke's regulars. He was also the man in the black derby hat that introduced Jacob McCandles to Mr. Sweet in "Big Jake" 😀
