Head scratching take on the Count in this one...
Avenging his servant? First of all how was this his servant? He was just some black mass guy looking to become immortal by drinking his blood. I'm thinking the Count would have other things on his mind besides avenging a low level groupie. Which brings me to my next point.
Throughout all the Hammer series, the Count made a point to secure wives and virtually every single female was in his cross hairs, however, for some reason he has no interest in turning Alice and after turning her friend kills her for no apparent reason (even though I though she was dead already). The Count is simply not that wasteful when it comes to the ladies.
And exactly what killed the count? The sight of church relics no doubt are a source of discomfort for him, however enough to kill him? Where was that established in the previous movies? The Count just seemed so sensitive in this movie.
Overall, I liked the movie, just thought the angle with the Count was out of sorts in comparison to the other movies. However this doesn't change my impression of Christopher Lee as the Prince of Darkness - he still da man!
