Sweet Charity , good watch?

I love musicals and I love Bob Fosse, but that does not necesarrily mean that I will love this movie. Anybody wanna give me an honest recommendation and opinion regarding sweet charity.

Honest?

This film has some of the most DAZZLING musical numbers ever directed - numbers that have entered the public conciousness. I bet you'll recogonise Hey Big Spender, If They Could See Me Now, The Rhythmn of life... And the choreography of The Frug is pure condensed Fosse.

But against - well, the acting drags a little sometimes, and it doesn't have a happy ending. Or does it?

In all, you'll love it. If you like Fosse's work, you've got to see this film.

If you love musicals and you are a fan of Fosse's work, I don't see anyway you cannot enjoy this film, it has Fosse written all over it...from the inventive and sometimes unnerving camera work to the extraordinary dance sequences with "Big Spender", "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This", "Rhythm of Life" and "I'm a Brass Band" as standouts. However, the textbook Fosse musical number is without a doubt, "Rich Man's Frug", a production number which should be studied by anyone contemplating a career in choreography. It's purely the best, case closed.

Very well put. You expressed my feelings about the film. Thank you!

Worth seeing for the musical numbers but the move is way too long to enjoy in one sitting. And Shirley is not always good. Keep your finger on FF.

I have never found this movie's length an issue, but that's just me.

I just watched it, and I thought it was great. Great music and dance routines. Lots of pretty women. I don't see how this movie got a G rating vs PG, as it was pretty provocative at times.

I heard about this film and have been on the lookout for it for ages. I finally got it and have to say was disappointed. As others have said the songs and cinematography are great. However the drama side of things was a bit tedious at times and the length (2hrs 27mins?) was a problem. I actually watched more than a few chapters on fast forward. Great songs, great routines, great costumes, so-so film.

You are not a human being, Lola, you are an epidemic.
