Help with uncredited actor's name

After searching for months I'm unable to locate the name of the actor on the balcony, in the saloon, James Garner shoots when he is arresting Joe Danby. The actor says "hold it sheriff and drop you gun". Garner begins to unbuckle his gun belt but as it begins to drop he draws his gun, shoots and kills the actor on the balcony. Immediately following this Jack Elam (Jake) shoots and kills actor Gene Coogan, dressed in a red plaid shirt, who attempts to shoot Garner in the back. Elam says to Garner "I couldn't let him shoot you in the back"; Garner responds with "oh you could have". I'm determined to figure out the shooter on the balcony's name....please help me end my search.
