I am embarassed to ask this question...

but here it goes. Is the "make-out" scenes in the middle of the movie..why do Pookie and Jerry suddenly pull away from one another, and look in other directions, on more than one occasion? Is it because he got an erection, and they could not have sex in public places? This would make sense because they eventually did check into a hotel, and have intercourse.

Thank you in advance!

Cheers!

Sincerely, Steve B.

Not sure if this is a gag question or what but yes, I think it should be obvious that P&J were, during that time, frustrated in their longings, and that this repeated and deliberate interruption of their necking and petting was intended to demonstrate that they had tacitly agreed to "cool off" once they got themselves into a lather, and were risking their respective comfort levels by coming a little too close to the "main event." Clear enough?

Now, I realize that times have changed since 1969, and that it's a lot more acceptable for people (young or not) to openly find satisfaction without serious risk or reservation or embarrassment these days, but... are these scenes truly a mystery to the OP or to anyone else???

No, it was not a gag question.

Thank you again for answering it!

"The Sterile Cuckoo" is a grown-up movie made by young adults for young adults. 12-year-old viewers should stick to Miley Cyrus. No deep meanings there.

Not anymore.

And yes, times have changed in the 41 years since the film was made. I was 15 in 1969 and you can take my word for it if you weren't around then yourself.

Honour thy parents. They were hip to the groove too once you know.

True back that, people were not comfortable having sex in public places. I miss that kind of respect.
