Lyrics to 'Come Saturday Morning' - help!

Hi,

The movie The Sterile Cuckoo has a single soundtrack of the Sandpipers' "Come Saturday Morning." The version in the movie is QUITE astonishingly different than the version on the Sandpipers' hit version of the song, which only has 2 verses as opposed to the myriads of verses in the movie's recording.

If anyone has the movie, or the record on which the original song was recorded for the soundtrack, could you please please please please post them on this board?

Trust me - it would mean more than the world to me. I implore you, if you have it, please share it... it would mean an incredible amount.

An example of a verse omitted:
But everyone knows how a Saturday goes/And so we'll move on/But we will remember long after Saturday's gone...

I remember a couple of more lines from the song in the movie.

"We'll Saturday laugh more than half of the day."
"Dressed up in our rings and our Saturday things."

This is my favorite song ever in the world and it's always bugged me that you can't get a recording of the whole song anywhere.
WHY isn't this movie on DVD?

Another excerpt from the "Bloopers and Trivia" thread (I know, it's a big pile of words to slog through):

The movie soundtrack LP lyrics are different... though during one track you can hear the "Saturday laugh/half" rhyme (only once), the "rings/Saturday things" lyric occurs nowhere during the movie or on the soundtrack LP. In the middle of the movie, during the lyrical beach-walking interlude, these lyrics are heard:

Come Saturday morning
We'll go to the end of the world
We'll Saturday walk and we'll talk and we'll play
Just I and my friend
With nobody there on that Saturday fair
And then we'll move on
But we will remember
Long after Saturday's gone

But these lyrics are not on the soundtrack LP.

The lyrics to the songs at the beginning and at the end of the movie are in the post I made above.

Now, I'm not saying it's impossible that some version of the movie somewhere has "rings&things" in it, but it's sure not in the Paramount VHS I've got. And (sadly) the only DVD presently available (that I know of) is a bootleg of the VHS version. Why? I wish there was an answer!

Wow! No "rings and things"? I've been singing it in the shower with those lyrics for years. I can't imagine where I thought I heard them. Maybe I made them up along the way. I saw this movie at the drive-in when it came out with my parents (awkward). I swear I've been singing the song ever since and must have thrown in a couple of lines of my own. Sorry if I've mislead.

I tried to explain it all in the pile-of-words in the second posting I made on the "Bloopers and Trivia" thread: the POP SINGLE by the Sandpipers has "rings&things" in it, but the MOVIE SOUNDTRACK doesn't. Nowhere. But it does contain lots more verses, and a lot of them are gems, in my pathetic little opinion... that's why I grunted out all that transcription on this thread and elsewhere. OK, a lot of it was just cut-and-paste, but still.

Oh, that's where I heard it, the POP SINGLE. I used to have the 45 rpm of the song. Thanks, dessinrh, for clearing that up and all the research you've done here.

Yes, you can, sort of. The original single is available on a CD, if not on iTunes. PM me if you want me to dig it up from my "vault". It's not the same (or as long) as in the movie, but it's lovely.

I was a sophomore in high school when that song was a hit and I have loved it ever since.

Honour thy parents. They were hip to the groove too once you know.

Why 'G-d'? Is this the absurd pretence that the English 'God' is the Hebrew name of the Jewish deity, which mustn't be pronounced in full in Hebrew?
