Surviving Pieces

Sole Survivor (1970) is a T.V. film MASTERPIECE.
The story based on an actual WWII crash in lybia is superbly acted by all the cast and remains Pat Waynes best film role, beautifully filmed with all you would expect, fun drama and sadness at the realisation they are finaly dead.
This remains my all time favourite GHOST film and the closing is so moving you cant but just feel for the sole survivor left at the wreck of a once prowd aircraft.
In reality the crew all bar one were found by B.P. prospectors some years later and like the film still remains the only one to be found. As a British American WWII Re-enactor and living historian I was lucky to visit the States in October 2003 and visited Petersburgh S.V. which included a visit to the musiums at Fort Lee and I am almost sure that some of the artifacts from the Lady Be Good (on which the film is based) are kept.
AM I RIGHT ?????????

You're most definitely right about the "Lady Be Good" reference. However this was not the first time the story was adapted for the small screen. In a 1960 episode of the "Twilight Zone" there was a story called "King Nine Will Not Return." If you ever have the chance to see it it's worth watching.
