Sole Survivor seems to have a Cult Status - some other questions too

I haven't seen this movie yet but I hope to at some stage.
Just what is it with this movie anyway ?
This has really got me intrigued.

From what I can gather this film is gaining a solid Cult Status
and will be along the lines of popularity of

Raw Courage
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087092/

Bamboo Gods And Iron Men
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0155528/

Duel
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067023/

I have only an idea of what its about but from the look of the movie and the fact that it has William Shatner and Richard Basehart and other cast give it some reason to catch it.
Lou Antonio ?

But what is it ?
Why such a following ?
Is it because of its connection to ghosts or mystery ?

The story is loosely based on the plane "Lady Be Good." In real life the navigator didn't seem to pay attention to the tail wind and they ended up over the desert long before they thought. In the movie, Richard Basehart played the navigator who saw the problem and bailed out, making him the "Sole Survivor." In real life they have found all but one body.

IMHO, The following comes because of the feelings involved in the film, which are passed on to the viewer.

Feelings of courage, hope, despair, confusion and lonelines, at their top. I believe that it is what the film makes you feel, and the feelings it leaves you with, years after ou have seen it, that's what counts.

Watch it, if you have the chance.

Protective, Detective, Electric Eye

I tried searching IMDB to find this movie and nothing returned. I ended searching Google and that's how I found this!

I saw this as a very young girl and have never forgotten it. My thoughts on why it sticks so much in our memories is because, at the time, it was one of very few movies ever made which addressed life after death. The whole notion of a movie all about ghosts, several of them, was a new thing. That's why it fascinated me. I had no idea it was based on a true story. I was just a kid when I saw it. Plus, I seem to remember it being in black and white....or maybe it's just that we only had a black and white tv when I saw it...lol

Anyway, soooo glad to find this! I've checked http://5mtl.com/ and they are selling copies still.
