Just as good as I remember!

I saw this movie on tv as a kid way back in the early eighties and I've never forgotten it. I just downloaded a copy off emule, and I was almost afraid to watch it incase it wasn't as good as I remembered - but it was! Loved it. Performances, and script, are way above par for a tv movie - and I'd totally forgotten Pat Wayne was in it. Funny the way you remember things, though - I'd forgotten they knew all along they were dead, and in my memory the military didn't turn up until the very end - and Bill Shatner was one of the dead crewmen. Maybe I got it confused in my mind with something else?

I had a vague recollection of this film from watching it as a kid. I couldn't really remember if it was a Twilight Zone episode or whatever.

I recently re-discovered it online, and it's still as haunting as ever. There's something about this low budget relatively unknown film that sticks with you. Being stranded out in the middle of nowhere, all those WWII boys whose final resting place is still unknown, I just don't know why, but this film hits a nerve.

From perusing this board and reading posts like yours I'm glad to find that I'm not the only one.

I watched this as a kid in the 80's too, but can't find it anywhere to view online, all I remember is the story that they were ghosts, I'm surprised to learn that they knew all along they were dead, I thought that was the shock ending.
