Six inches is perfectly adequate; more is vulgar!

I know Jean Brodie was talking about a window that was open too wide, but the writers HAD to be aware of the double entendre.

My dirty mind also thought this line was rather suggestive, but I don't think the double entendre was intentional.

but yeah, the six inches line is very suggestive lol

I think this is foreshadowing of Sandy's line during the final showdown: "Neither one of us were too interested in his mind!"

It may not mean much to the casual observer, but Miss Brodie seems to have taken it as a fact that Sandy had become Teddy Lloyd's lover after this line.
