I watched the film tonight on TCM, and I'm curious - when this was shown on CBS in the early 70s when it had its US television premiere - how was it edited, regarding the scene with Sandy being painted, and the male nude sketch? Anyone recall?

Yes. It was cut to fit into a two hour time slot. The entire scene of Jean showing the slides ,one of the movie's key scenes and one that contributed greatly to Dame Maggie's Oscar was completely cut. This from CBS, the network that likes to refer to themselves as the Tiffany network
