BEWARE: MGM DVD is cut!!!

I just compared the german Arthaus and UK MGM DVDs, and the UK MGM is cut.

Sadly, the Arthaus is in such a bad picture quality that I can't recommend getting that one either.

Too bad there's no definite version of this out. :(

I know that this is an old thread but I happen to own the MGM dvd.
I would appreciate it if you could tell me how much and what is exactly cut? Thanks.

It's the scene where he finds his dog.

In the original, he finds the small dog hanging from a tree and crying.
In the cut version, he investigates the cries - CUT to him bringing the dog home.

It supposedly is on the US-DVD... yet it's not included on the UK DVD.

I can confirm it's on the US DVD - a great shame it's cut from the UK one.

Andreas finding the hanging dog is in the US MGM DVD. Also, the image quality throughout that DVD is superb (Thank you, Sven!).

I'm confused why the German Arthaus DVD would have poor picture quality.

Anyone wanting to see the 'dog scene' that was cut out, the Netflix version has it.

Love's turned to lust and blood's turned to dust in my heart.

That dog scene was so damn jarring. Films rarely get me like that.
