New info/book about this movie

'Midnight Cowboy' : Art, Sex,Loneliness, Liberation, and the making if a Dark Classic.

Some new info/tidbits (from New Yorker April 12)

Robert Redford and Warren Beatty both lobbied to get the role of Joe Buck.

Joe Bucks role was offered to Michael Sarrazin but the deal fell through when he asked for more money.

Dustin Hoffman, upset that his character was not the focus of the movie, was a no-show at promotional events.

Harry Nielson disliked the song "Everybody's Talking", and recorded it only as a favor to his producer.

Bob Dylan wrote a song for the movie (probably Lay Lady Lay) but it didn't make the cut, because he summited it too late.
