Really did love this film

And I am not a movie snob. This movie was not dull and boring. Great acting and a great plot. And for 60s counterculture films, I find this miles ahead of Easy Rider. Famous for one line, and very deserved.

I always loved it, it has a great reputation and it makes it great.

I liked the characters. I felt sympathy for these "lovable" misfit/hustlers.

Engrossing and humorous.

this film is not "downbeat", and it is "deep"

Does anyone readily agree?

I like your style (and I agree).

Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to its awesomeness.

I agree and have really enjoyed re-visiting this magnificent film.

I have no issues with "avant garde" films and this film deserved Best Picture. It was tight and neat. I felt that everything (including the characters) was brilliant and not for shock value. It's a great character study.

I realize I'm in the majority here.

It had a great plot. Great acting all round, plenty of substance

I found much emotional connection to these characters. This movie does not come across to me as one of those films that's just edgy, and bizarre in order to get a reaction. The movie had plenty to say .I enjoyed it very much, not stumped it's so beloved.

I thought the film was brilliant and I admired it's technical efforts, and I loved the character of Joe. Maybe it's because he's played by Jon Voight (whose acting really could not have been better)

One of the greatest movies of all time and this film is one of the reasons why it's very hard for me to sit in a theater and pay to see the crap that is made today.

My #6 film (all-time). Voight and Hoffman's best performances. 10/10. It deserved to win Best Picture. Schlesinger's best film. Sylvia Miles was great, as well. This film was released when I was in high school in 1969 and I had to get a fake I.D. to see it. (X-rated at first, changed to an R-rating after it won Best Picture).

What's wrong with being a movie snob? If we all were, don't you think Hollywood would make better movies?
