The Horses were the stars
With some of its flaws, by today's standard, its a masterpiece. I don't recall in any western movie I have seen in the past, have the horse's been used more masterfully than here. I'm sure in long shots, pros were riding them through that rough terrain. I hope that one scene where one horse was hit by an arrow in the neck and jumped into the water, was not really hurt. Someone in this thread said that the cast was miscast. They didn't elaborate. I thought Omar looked like the perfect Mexican and sounded like one, and Peck, was naturally, Peck. I was surprised at the nudity that they did show at that time in films. All in all I enjoyed it for what it was.
