Was this film where the term 'cliffhanger' came from?

Like, when people say films have cliffhanger endings.

The term was in use during Victorian times, a hundred years or so before this film came out. They did take it literally in the film, there was supposed to be a sequel to TIJ, that's why it ends with the cliff hanger.
