Car crash in tunnel

This scene is not very realisic.
When the Lamborghini Miura crashes into the bulldozer during the opening shots it seems to have only minor damage when the bulldozer pulls it out.
NO WAY could it sustain only such a small amount of damage after crashing head-on into a solid steel bulldozer weighing probably 20-30 tons at maybe 60-70mph.
The whole car would be crumpled like a coke can

I agree, Remember though, that that was a new car in 1969, and not a cheap Ford cortina or something, but an expensive sports car, they probally found one that had already been hit and written off, but as i say bein so new and exlusive, they probally didn't have many to chose from, hence the damage on the Lambo didn't really match to that what it would have substained from the bulldozer.

Your right about the car already being a wreck before filming,it mentions this in the goofs section, also, the explosion in the tunnel would have gave the car a very burned and blackened appearence

reply

Well there was some black acrid smoke belching from it's rear engine bonnet vents.

Minor damage? Look again, the front, rear and roof are flattened! The idea is, I think, that the car went up over the bulldozer blade rather than into it.

I agree the damage isn't consistent with that type of impact but that's because the damaged car is a Muira, it had been in a side impact, bought from a junkyard. The driven car at the beginning was hired to match the damaged one.

The damaged one was shoved over the cliff and the remains had disappeared by the following morning.

People should spend more time watching movies and less time bitching about IMDB spoilers.

He would have seen the dozer in time to slow down a bit, but not nearly enough.

What's up with the dates posted in this thread? It's Y2K all over again or what?

This scene is not very realistic?
Is any of the film realistic?
It's a comedy caper. Who expects realism?

Agreed. Its a 1969 comedy not to be taken to seriously.

It also erupted in a ball of fire when it hit, yet there were no char marks on the car.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

It's a pretty surreal movie in general, whimsical even. The whole opening sequence was a bit dreamlike. This is closer to Austin Powers or even John Wick than Goodfellas.
