Burton and Taylor?

While watching this film, I kept thinking that it was the sort of project that Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor would have done during this period. I wonder if they were ever considered for the leads.

Burton and Taylor would have had the good sense to turn it down had the project been offered to them.

U think? Did you ever see the Burton/Taylor films Boom(1968), Doctor Faustus(1967),Cleopatra(1963)The VIPs(1963)or Hammersmith Is Out(1972)! Bloated, boring, pretentious, pointless. The Illustrated Man might actually have been a step up, a slight step to be sure.
