Good old fashion western
with a turn of the century added in to make it a very nice movie to watch. RM is at his best playing the aging lawman.

shareI agree. I love Mitchum in this movie the best. He is also great in El Dorado & Five Card Stud where he plays a preacher who is really a villain.
shareAgreed. Interesting to see Mitchum, who was always so cutting-edge in his 40s and 50s work, in a throwback movie like this. 9/10.
What's the Spanish for drunken bum?
Balsam is terrific in this.
"Be sure you're right, then go ahead."
Davy Crockett
He was a very versatile actor. He and George Kennedy are good fun together in this one. Some of the location scenery is really nice too.
"Bushwhackin'! Backshootin'! That's all the young ones know these days. They got no dignity! They got no pride! It just ain't no fun anymore."
Just caught up with it again three and a half years later and it's still all about the chemistry between Mitchum and Kennedy. I'd love to know why Mitchum apparently regretted making this movie so much.🐭
