I acutally rate this move right up there with A Bridge Too Far

While not having as many actors as bridge, this movie is still awesome. Robert Vaughn as the major is my favorite character.

I'm surprise this film is ranked alongside the classics that came out in the same decade like The Great Escape, Where Eagles Dare, Kellys Heroes and The Dirty Dozen. It just seems to be a bit of a forgotten gem. I agree with your comment on Robert Vaughn, he stole the film with his performance.

Damn fine film. George Segal was wrong for that role and the score was not appropriate to the subject.

Still a solid WW2 film.

I would too.
