Cover your ears and open your mouth


When the Germans are about to blow the bridge, Major Kreuger tells the others in the tunnel to "cover your ears and open your mouths." Did he mis-speak? Would it make more sense to close your mouth in an explosion?

It is the thing to do to protect your eardrums in cases of extremely loud noise.
