This movie is sort of porn with a plot.

All the major exploitation elements are there.

Beautiful young women - check
Nudity - check

But there is also an unusally sesativative element to the movie. There's a great sub plot that makes this a great film.

I have the drive in cult classics DVD collection and even though this film is only on PAL versions on that collection I could clearly see all the images. I think it's a good DVD transfer.

We're really lucky to have that DVD, because THE BABYSITTER (1969) wasn't ever released on VHS. It is a good film, one that deserves to be better known. I only wish that Crown International had the original negative, or at least a good 35mm print, but that PAL transfer is the best available source.

The other Patricia Wymer starring film, THE YOUNG GRADUATES, was released on the next volume in the series, DRIVE-IN CULT CLASSICS VOL. 4. It is a much better transfer, letterboxed at 1:78-1 and with good color (and of course, no PAL artifacts).

I guess it's typical of the very soft-core porn of the era, at least as I understand the genre. Regardless of the nudity, there's enough of a story here to qualify as a respectable feature. Would the subplot you mention involved the lesbian angle, which doesn't seem to be fully addressed?

This was the first film I watched from the "Drive-In Cult Classics, Volume 3" package, and if this is any indication, I'll be getting my $4.95 worth. Actually, I already have! 7/10 stars from me.

I agree - maybe because I wasn't expecting anything like it, but I was actually surprised by how sensitively and perceptively the subject was handled, the use of flashbacks and cutaways is actually quite effective. In many ways I found it more effective than higher profile films on the topic, it has a simple lack of pretension. It doesn't just glory in George's giving in to lust, it shows a genuine emotional conflict.

It also provides a lot of the fun elements as well, and has a good soundtrack, so it's a pretty solid b-flick.
