In the movie everyone seems to be speking modern day colloquil english. Would

AOTTD is not an historical drama, much less a documentary. It's a very modern drama in many ways -- not only the language, but also the attitudes and philosophy. It's a philosophical drama based on historical events, modern emotional insights in a Tudor setting.
So no, the speech in those days would have differed considerably. But it doesn't matter, because that isn't the point.

I don´t know, the attitudes or philosophies as displayed by the characters didn´t strike me as being modern to the point of distraction, at least. AOTTD may not be as uncannily transformative as, say, Barry Lyndon, but all the same it did seem to go well beyond contemporary people playing dress-up.
As for the English spoken... if the film indeed were in the authentic language, nobody would be able to understand half the things the characters were saying.

Oh, I agree, the combination of old and new, the modern take on an ancient story, is all the charm. Not a distraction at all.
