Sesame Street 'Crack Master' Re-Release Petition

For those unfamiliar with Crack Master:

Anyhow, soon I'm going to be writing directly to Cosmo Anzilotti regarding the Crack Master video. I've set up a petition that I hope to send him with said letter, if you have time, please sign it:

Thanks to anyone who signs!

Yo man, add me on Facebook. I support your efforts wholeheartedly, and we need to get in contact with that Jon Armond guy and see if he's actually making a video documentary of the cartoon as he originally claimed he was doing, and why is it taking him so long to finish it. I listened to the audio documentary he made, but it contains zero audio of the cartoon, not even the music or anything.

Congratulations on finding this rare animation!

If there's any chance I could ask you some questions about your experience please let me know. Thanks!

Firstly - how old are you? Did you see this clip back when it was originally broadcast? If not, how did you become aware of it?

reply

I'm 22, so no, unfortunately I never saw it during its original broadcast(s). I first read about it on snopes 5 or so years ago, and have been absolutely fascinated by it ever since.

reply

Wow - you're young! I'm 41, which is just about the right age to have actually seen "Crack Master" during it's original broadcast. To be honest, though, I have no memory of it. My main trauma was Sammy the Snake!

At any rate, I really admire your tenacity with all this. You've worked really hard to recover an important piece of broadcasting history, and I have to give you big props for that. You're great!

And - since you've done so well with this - how about hunting down the lost episodes of Doctor Who?

Whereabouts do you live, btw?

Thanks for your congratulatory words :)

It feels very gratifying to have finally tracked down this elusive short. In fact, Crack Master was pretty much my main inspiration to create the Lost Media Wiki (a site which you are probably familiar with at this point).

As for tracking down old Doctor Who episodes, while I would SO love to track down rare media as a full time job, I simply don't have the funds necessary (I'm just a working-class student at this point in time). Although you never know, I was finally able to get a copy of Crack Master through online campaigning (mainly online, anyway), so I would never be so quick to rule anything out (though neither am I going to claim the ability to find such things, as the BBC don't even have copies, and as such, the episodes are significantly rarer than Cracks was).

Also, I live in Australia.

Crack Master? Sounds like a drug dealer. In fact, the folks who came up with it were probably ON some kind of illegal substance.

Well, the short seemed innocent enough, until ol' C.M. showed up. I can see why kids would be scared by this cartoon. Still, I don't think it should be "banned" and cause the controversies it did.

Good ol' freaky '70s, back when Sesame Street was on drugs.

I remember being scared out of my wits as a child when the Crack master would air. For a while, if the clip would start, I would run away from the TV, and cover my ears. a few times, I would go back too soon, and run away again in sheer horror. I think that is why our generation loves the "jump scares" so much now.
