How can the adults fail to see Snuffy that whole time?

Ok, I was way too young to realize that Snuffy use to be a secret because this occurred in the 70s and 80s and I was born in 1990.

But anyways, how can they miss someone as huge and furry as Snuffy. Next to Big Bird, he's the largest muppet on the show as big as an elephant. Impossible to miss

And all Big Bird had to do was tell Snuffy to sit still and not go anywhere and get the grownups to see him. Unless he was shy or something.

Again, these episodes where before my time so don't judge.

That's just the way it was, as simple as that.

Snuffy would always be gone by the time Big Bird got a grownup to come and look. It was quite aggravating, let me tell you.

I believe I watched Sesame Street AFTER the adults knew Snuffy existed as I believe I wasn't born yet when the adults didn't believe Snuffy existed, but it sounds odd that Snuffy and the adults were never together in the same scene.

Big Bird often DID tell Snuffy to stay put. Snuffy would either think he heard his mother calling, or wasn't listening to Bird.
